Overview
Thom is the owner and the technician at Deadlock Garage Doors. He's spent three and a half years working hands-on with garage doors. In that time he's trained across a range of garage door brands, systems and businesses.
That mix matters. Doors aren't all built the same way, and openers differ even more. Working on lots of them teaches you what a healthy door looks and sounds like, and what a tired one sounds like. It also shows you how different teams do the job. Thom kept the habits that work. Check the balance before blaming the opener. Test the door properly before calling it done.
In 2026 he set up Deadlock Garage Doors as his own business, based in Maroochydore. It's owner-operated, so every job is done by Thom. He takes the call, does the work and answers for it. You deal with him from the first call to the finished door.
The work is repairs and servicing. Broken springs and frayed cables. Doors that jam, drag or run crooked. Worn rollers and noisy hinges. Openers that hum, stall or reverse for no clear reason. And regular services that keep a door running quietly for years. He works on sectional, roller and tilt doors and the common opener types, right across the Sunshine Coast.
Why Deadlock
How Thom works on your door
Straight answers come first. Thom looks over the whole door before he touches anything, then tells you what he's found in plain words. If a small adjustment will fix it, that's what you'll hear.
He explains what a job involves before he starts, so nothing catches you out. If a part is worn but has life left in it, he'll say so, and you can decide when to replace it.
Homeowner, landlord or holiday-let owner, every door gets the same standard of work, and it's done properly the first time.

What a service visit looks like
It starts with a quick chat about what the door has been doing. Noises, sticking, or a remote that works one day and not the next. Then Thom runs the door by hand and on the opener to see how it moves.
The service itself covers five things. The spring balance is checked and adjusted. The rollers, hinges and tracks are lubricated. The bolts and brackets are tightened. The cables and drums are inspected. And the opener is tested, including its safety reversal. Once that's done, he tells you what he found and what, if anything, needs work.

How callouts are charged
Repairs and servicing are booked as a callout valued between $200 and $300, depending on the door size and the labour involved. Tell Thom what the door is doing when you book. He'll explain what the job is likely to involve before he starts, so you know where you stand on the day.
Emergencies outside 6am to 6pm are covered too. Ask about the callout when you ring.

Insured and registered
Deadlock Garage Doors carries public liability insurance through BizCover. The business is registered under ABN 17 937 699 636, and you can check that on the Australian Business Register.
Because every job is done by Thom himself, the insured business and the person working in your garage are one and the same.
